About The Position
CHS Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our Oil Refinery facility in McPherson, Kansas. This internship offers a unique opportunity to provide technical support to our refinery Mechanical Engineers, focusing on a variety of refinery units to ensure optimal performance while adhering to company safety, environmental, and economic guidelines. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and contribute to the success of our operations. As a Mechanical Engineer Intern, you will engage in a range of activities that may include mechanical equipment design, inspection data analysis, fitness for service evaluations, and the development of equipment repair plans. You will also be involved in materials selection, root cause failure analysis, and troubleshooting equipment performance, providing recommendations for maintenance. This role will require you to work closely with Process Engineers to design and install new projects and implement unit improvements. In addition to technical tasks, you will be expected to recognize and report safety, health, and environmental issues that may impact operations and personnel. Projects may encompass equipment design, preparation of specifications, equipment integrity evaluations, research investigations, report preparation, and other activities that require a solid understanding of engineering principles and techniques relevant to your assignments.
