The Mechanical Engineer Intern - Mobility position at American Rheinmetall Vehicles, LLC is designed for students currently enrolled in a BSc Engineering program. The intern will gain hands-on experience in engineering responsibilities, particularly in the development of automotive systems and components for military vehicles.   • Learn the responsibilities of an engineer.
  • Incorporate academic knowledge into hands-on work.
  • Assist with administrative duties around the office.
  • Support and adhere to all company safety and environmental regulations & policies.
  • Participate in the development of automotive systems, components, or processes.
  • Gain detailed knowledge of mobility disciplines including suspension, powertrain, cooling system, exhaust and induction.
  • Learn about other vehicle technologies and their contributions to mobility.
  • Accurately report work scope and hours to Engineering leadership.
  • Review Technical Documents and Safety Statements according to law and/or contractual conditions.
  • Participate in system-level trade studies and analysis for balanced system design.
  • Support subsystem and vehicle-level integration, testing, and verification activities.
  • Represent the company at internal meetings or meetings with subcontractors, partners, and customers.
  • Undertake other duties as determined by manager or their delegates.
  • Currently enrolled in a BSc Engineering program (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems, Aerospace) or equivalent practical work experience.
  • 0-3 years of engineering experience in the defense, aerospace, or automotive industry.
  • Interest in vehicle technologies and equipment, with a general understanding of vehicle propulsion systems.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Practical hands-on attitude with the ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment.
  • High level of self-motivation and standards with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to present technical solutions to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Well-rounded engineering background with coursework in mechanical engineering, electrical, software, and materials.
  • Ability to perform actions within CAD based design systems, preferably Creo.
  • Military experience
  • Hands-on experience with farm or heavy equipment, recreational vehicles, or passenger cars.
  • Knowledge of the US DoD process and procedures for vehicle development and procurement.
  • Familiarity with the US Army TACOM / TARDEC.
  • Experience working in a multi-national, multi-organizational and/or corporate environment.
  • Estimated Salary Range: $20 per hour
