Mechanical Engineer Intern – Collection Devices
About The Position
Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Engineering Team! The Mechanical Engineer Intern will support the design and development of plastic sample collection devices within a product development environment. This role is intended for students or recent graduates pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and provides hands-on experience in CAD design, prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration. Requirements
- Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Proficiency in CAD software
- Basic understanding of plastic part design principles
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment
Nice To Haves
- Exposure to injection-molded plastic design or rapid prototyping
- Experience in a product development or regulated environment
Responsibilities
- Create and modify 3D CAD models and drawings for plastic components using SolidWorks or similar tools
- Support plastic part design with consideration for manufacturability and assembly
- Assist with prototype development, evaluation, and design iteration
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support development activities
- Maintain accurate design documentation in accordance with internal processes
