The purpose of the Mechanical Design Engineer III is to design new products that satisfy customer needs and other requirements identified by Product Management specified in the Product Specifications Document (PSD) following the established New Product Development (NPD) process. The scope of this position includes all activities related to mechanical design and product reliability from ID concept to production release. This is how you WOW: It would be WOW if you would bring this in: Uses CAD systems to develop mechanical design of parts, subassemblies and subsystems required for new products. Creates and maintains 2D drawings and 3D models of engineering designs. Generates design engineering documentation usually in the form of 3D models, engineering drawings, charts, spread sheets, simulation and testing results reports. Uses the PLM system to manage CAD files and new part numbers set up. Work closely with testing engineers to ensure the new designs comply with applicable safety regulations and performance and durability requirements. Provides input for schedules and workloads related to areas of responsibility. Work closely with project managers to assure adherence to time line, material cost, labor cost and other important goals product requirements established in the PSD. Provides detailed information of how his/her time is utilized (resource planning). Supports model makers in the construction of mock-ups and prototypes. Work closely with Industrial Design to meet corporate identity and design guidelines. Work closely with Operations to ensure new designs are manufacturable and comply with Karcher Production System global standards. Use predictive tools such as FEA, static and dynamic analysis and CFD. Understands all financials and budgeting metrics involved in the NPD process. Perform assignments with minimum supervision. Conduct and coordinate FMEA for new products under development. Lead NPD projects. It would be WOW if you would bring this in: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree or equivalent work experience is required 5 or more years of related experience is required Proficient in 2D/3D CAD design, preferred system is Inventor. Strong knowledge on technical drafting. GD&T and Stack up Tolerancing analysis. Manufacturing processes for metals and plastics. Mechanical properties of common materials. Design of mechanisms, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, mechanical vibrations and power transmission. Ability to create and maintain BOM’s and other extensive and highly detailed spread sheets. General knowledge of basic electric circuits, electronics, and mechatronics.
