What you’ll do: Under the direction of the Design Engineering Manager, you will conceptualize, design, develop and test mechatronic automation solutions, develop tooling for robot work cells, create detailed mechanical drawings and documentation, support our quality systems, and work with supply chain vendors. You will work with a team of mechanical, electrical, applications, and software engineers to help deliver solutions on time and on budget. In addition, you will support the manufacturing and work directly with the Operations Department as needed. The successful candidate will have the ability to work efficiently and develop lasting relationships with fast-paced, world-class, technically savvy clients. This person will be a creative problem solver with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, confident in mechatronics design solutions, well-organized, and self-motivated. The position requires enthusiasm, tenacity, creativity, flexibility, resiliency, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a professional and courteous personality. Additional details about what you will be doing includes: Work with the sales engineers and customers to help define the problem and understand the statement of work Conceptualize innovative mechatronic and product design solutions that meet/exceed customer expectations Help prepare, or have ownership of, Statements of Work (SOW)/proposals for new business opportunities Applying Voice-of-Customer (VOC) principles in creating a solution with 3D concept models for sales presentations and costing Designing detailed 3D models of parts and complete automation subassemblies Learning Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) principles to achieve capability and reproducibility in the automated system output Applying root cause analysis principles in troubleshooting automated systems Applying Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) & Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) processes during the design process Creating and/or checking detailed 2D drawings of parts and assemblies Helping design and execute Proof of Concepts (POC) to determine feasibility and performance Support customer Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)/Site Acceptance Test (SAT) system buyoff Infrequent travel may be necessary from time to time, < 10% Why join us?
