We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer Ill to lead and support the development, design, and installation of automation systems within our medical device manufacturing operations. This role will focus on improving production efficiency, quality, and scalability through innovative automation solutions. While direct experience in medical device manufacturing is not required, a strong background in automation engineering and system integration is essential.

  • Lead the design and implementation of automated equipment and systems for manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, R&D, and maintenance to identify automation opportunities.
  • Develop detailed mechanical designs, including CAD models, drawings, and specifications.
  • Manage automation projects from concept through installation, validation, and handoff to operations.
  • Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement of existing automation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485) during design and implementation.
  • Conduct risk assessments, FMEAs, and design reviews for automation systems.
  • Work with external vendors and integrators to source components and manage outsourced automation projects.
  • Document engineering work including design history files, validation protocols, and technical reports.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and automation engineering.
  • Proven experience with automation systems such as robotics, motion control, sensors, and PLCs.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, assembly, and molding.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of automation technologies including robotics, pneumatics, servo systems, and vision systems.
  • Ability to design mechanical systems for automated equipment with attention to manufacturability and reliability.
  • Understanding of control systems and integration with mechanical components.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with medical device regulations is a plus but not required.
