Position Purpose: The Mechanical Engineer in the Atmospheric Robotics function typically: is a systems engineering design engineering authority (DEA) for wafer handling robot subsystems within a variety of semiconductor equipment. S/he determines hardware and software requirements, performs detailed analysis, and also defines working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Specifies, coordinates, and resolves interface issues between these various automation modules and subsystems such as material handling robotics, loadlocks, loadports, system control software,etc. This intermediate position develops and executes robotics systems engineering projects of difficult scope under general direction. They will need to: translate internal customer needs into specific technical requirements for semiconductor wafer handling robot; analyze, communicate and negotiate requirements; manage product development to ensure OEM robot vendors meet specific requirements on time and at cost. Author hardware and software specifications. Perform hardware and software testing to ensure robots meet agreed requirements, including hands-on work such as building test stands, developing and running test programs and safely operating complex industrial equipment.
