About The Position

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer III to be an integral part of our engineering team in Kilgore, TX. This position merges hands-on design and validation with cross-functional collaboration, offering the opportunity to contribute to the development of rugged Satellite Communications (SATCOM) and electromechanical systems. We are looking for a passionate design/analysis engineer and builder who is as comfortable driving a CAD model as they are getting their hands dirty on the production floor to solve real-world challenges. Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5-7+ years of experience designing rugged, electromechanical products, preferably in an NPI or IRAD environment.
  • A U.S. Citizen status and the ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks and a working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • A passion for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Assembly (DFA) to create elegant, efficient, and repeatable designs.
  • Experience using ERP/PLM systems for managing BOMs and engineering changes with obsessive detail.
  • Experience using Ansys and/or MathCAD for design validation (FEA, thermal).
  • Comprehensive understanding of classical stress calculations.
  • A hands-on, builder's mindset; you're as comfortable with a wrench as you are with a mouse.
  • The ability to excel as a critical team member in a lean, fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • A strong understanding of RF principles and electronic packaging (highly desired).
  • Familiarity with collaborative tools like Azure DevOps or Jira.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Documentation: Executing the mechanical design of components and subsystems for complex antenna terminals using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Researching and analyzing vendor products and COTS components to determine the feasibility and application of new designs.
  • Creating and maintaining a complete technical data package, including drawings, assembly procedures, and Bills of Material (BOMs), while adhering to engineering change management processes.
  • Analysis & Validation Supporting advanced engineering analysis (FEA, thermal) using tools like Ansys and MathCAD to validate design performance.
  • Verification of design components through classical hand calculations and/or focused FEA analysis.
  • Participating directly in the assembly, integration, and verification of prototypes through hands-on testing.
  • Developing clear documentation and providing hands-on support to train manufacturing technicians for production handoff.
  • Collaboration & Project Execution: Owning your individual project tasks, providing accurate schedule estimates, and ensuring your deliverables align with key program milestones.
  • Actively participating in and supporting formal design and peer reviews to ensure technical excellence and alignment.
  • Driving full-lifecycle product support, which includes analyzing mechanical failures, managing component obsolescence, providing direct customer support, and developing assembly and troubleshooting guides for internal teams.
  • Working closely with other disciplines to ensure the successful integration of the complete electromechanical system.
  • Traveling up to 25% (domestic and international) to support system deployment, suppliers, or customers.
