About The Position

The Mechanical System Engineer II role is a mid-level position in the Engineering department. Under immediate supervision, this position performs engineering duties in the design or alteration of machines, sections, systems, units, or parts with consideration of manufacturing feasibility, cost, and operation.

Requirements

  • Must be able to perform each essential duty with a high degree of satisfaction.
  • Work effectively in cross-functional teams, collaborating with individuals from diverse fields such as engineering, product, and more to achieve common design goals.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in a related field.
  • General knowledge of mechanical and control components and application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in completing a sequence of related Engineering tasks.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Exposure and a general understanding of the following software packages is required: 2-D CAD (AutoCAD or equivalent), 3-D CAD (SolidWorks), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, etc.)
  • Ability to read, understand and implement electronic and paper based pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
  • Possesses effective communication skills, a positive “get-it-done” attitude, and the ability to work as part of a team in a demanding production environment.
  • Travel as needed.
  • Sit at a desk or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Move about the office and factory with occasional lifting, bending, and reaching.
  • Dial, hear and respond to telephone calls and inquiries.
  • Communicate effectively (visually and verbally) with internal and external contacts.
  • Meet requirements of daily attendance on job for a full, continuous work schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • EIT (Mechanical) preferred
  • Project Management experience, Certificate a plus
  • Good knowledge of company equipment, controls systems and software tools.
  • Good application of company’s engineering processes and lean product development practices.
  • Ability to work in teams and follow direction.
  • Ability to flex tasks on a moment’s notice.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering models and/or drawings (using Company standards and tools) including Bills of Materials (BOM) in a clear, complete, accurate manner compliant with appropriate Company standards.
  • Process engineering releases, change orders, change requests.
  • Specification preparation, concept evaluation, project estimates, component evaluations, stress analysis, machine design, reliability testing and cost reduction.
  • Perform and document risk assessments.
  • Interface with Manufacturing to develop fabrication/assembly cost estimates on machines.
  • Develop test plans to validate equipment and/or component design.
  • Perform tests, analyze results, and prepare test reports.
  • Provide production shop support as required. Tasks may include fit-up of components to verify/resolve interference issues or other engineering-related tasks.
  • Perform machine quality inspections prior to machine shipments.
  • Generate documentation as needed to support quality compliance programs.
  • Assist with machine installation, commissioning, field troubleshooting, and customer training as required.
  • Be familiar with all safety and “best-practice” codes/guidelines (OSHA, CE, NFPA, etc.)
  • Completes normal and required administrative tasks (time sheets, logs, etc.)
  • Performs all commitments/tasks in a timely and professional manner.
  • Performs other duties/responsibilities as required.
