About The Position

We are a full-service HVAC, building automation, chiller, and retrofit contractor with a reputation for combining high-quality consulting services with customized energy solutions. Our integrated, single-source solutions include turnkey in-house capabilities with design assistance, as well as engineering applications and automated control systems. This position will provide engineering and design support to the Mesa Energy Systems Engineering Group. The Mechanical Engineer II will apply their engineering education to support other Engineers and Team Members. This person will be presented with various projects in the commercial, industrial, government, healthcare, and education markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • 3+ years of engineering and design experience.
  • In the process of obtaining PE licensure.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Permitting submittal requirements in the Mechanical field.
  • Computer savvy, with advanced knowledge of computers and handling software.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and other related software applications.
  • Reasonable proficiency with energy simulation software.
  • Reasonable understanding of energy management concepts.
  • Reasonable understanding of HVAC Systems and Components (Hot Water, Chilled Water, Condensing Water, Chillers, Fans, Heat Pumps, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Obtained EIT/FE designation, a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various tasks assigned by Senior Engineers and the Engineering Manager/Director.
  • Generate detailed schematics for HVAC systems based on instructions and pre-established guidelines.
  • Developing the ability to independently conduct job site surveys with a complete understanding of the project's intent and be able to analyze and propose design solutions and installation sequencing.
  • Developing the ability to conduct audits and surveys as needed independently.
  • Record identifying equipment function, tags, location, capacities, photos, etc.
  • Trace piping and ductwork onto field notes.
  • Convert field surveys into usable formats for plan and project development.
  • Assist in planning to size, replace, and retrofit new equipment to replace aged or obsolete equipment.
  • Use AutoCAD to develop plans.
  • Developing ability to independently recommend engineered mechanical solutions and designs, coordinate and quality check outsourced engineering resources, determine and process utility incentives, prepare permit documents for mechanical projects, perform load and energy calculations, and other engineering duties.
  • Participate in the company’s project improvement process by refining standard design practices, calculating spreadsheet templates, updating and establishing standard procedures and practices, and collecting supporting documentation for various projects to be referenced for future projects.
  • Other duties may include copying/printing/scanning, assembly of equipment submittal packages, assistance in preparing work scope, and other tasks as assigned.
