YOUR DAY TO DAY: Responsible for technical assignments involving maximizing the manufacturability and maintaining timely product flow for the assigned product(s). Under general supervision designs, implements and maintains efficient manufacturing equipment and procedures; coordinates the introduction of new products into manufacturing, and identifies and solves production related problems, for assigned product(s).

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering - prefer Mechanical (all) or Electrical Engineering or Physics.
  • 3-5 years' experience.
  • Experience with analytical tools, workflow time studies, and process balancing.
  • Experience with building small prototypes.
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
  • Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to clearly recognize and export information relevant to sound manufacturing engineering design.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, problem solving techniques, and quality processes.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Good understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Proficient with MS office.
  • Able to work independently with general supervisory guidance.
  • U.S. Citizenship and are able to obtain/maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance.

  • Familiarity with ERP system an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.
  • Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products.
  • Estimate manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and makes recommendation for tooling and process requirement of new of existing product lines.
  • Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design materials and parts, fabrications processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Documents procedures, process qualifications, work instructions, shop aids, routings, etc.
  • Monitor product yield, provide product factory / field failure root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Provide engineering support for the development of test jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement and cost reduction processes.
  • Identify opportunities for preventing waste and inefficiency during production.
  • Research and test design ideas to determine feasibility, utilizing lean manufacturing, kaizen, Six Sigma, and root-cause analysis to formulate and support innovation, corrective actions, and improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gain insights and direction.
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned.
