About The Position

Hinge Health is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team. In this role, you will play a key part in designing and developing our next generation hardware products. As a junior-to-mid-level engineer, you will work on diverse projects, driving mechanical designs for highly integrated medical devices. You will work cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to bring products from concept through production. Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional experience in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design, designing consumer electronics, medical devices, or other highly integrated embedded hardware
  • Professional experience with 3D CAD modeling and 2D engineering drawings
  • Experience with various manufacturing processes and design for manufacturing/assembly best practices (DFM/DFA)
  • Experience with prototyping and basic machine shop equipment
  • Proficient with part joining techniques, tolerance stackup analyses, and mechanical testing methods (e.g. drop, water ingress testing, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks
  • Experience working in medical device development or, alternatively, within another highly regulated industry (aerospace, automotive, etc.)
  • Experience with quality management systems (QMS)
  • Familiarity with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and basic electronics principles
  • Proven experience transitioning designs to high-volume manufacturing, including supporting vendor management

Responsibilities

  • Design complex device assemblies and manufacturing fixtures in 3D CAD, integrating components such as PCBAs, batteries, connectors, etc.
  • Rapidly build and test prototypes using a variety of technologies (3D printing, machining, etc.
  • Work at all stages of the product development process, from exploration and prototyping to detailed design, testing, and ramping to mass production
  • Collaborate closely with electrical, firmware, and senior mechanical engineers on system architecture and integration
  • Ensure design quality and meeting medical device regulatory requirements with clear documentation and robust testing
  • Support manufacturing and sustaining engineering by improving designs for reduced cost or improved manufacturability, supporting process or test development, and assisting with failure analysis
