As a Mechanical Engineer II, you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. Mechanical Engineer II demonstrates strong technical expertise and initiative in electromechanical design and cross-functional collaboration. They lead problem-solving efforts, contribute to projects and engage with internal and external teams.  They are expected to work independently and drive departmental performance through innovation and strategic thinking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 
  • 3+ Years of experience in Mechanical Engineering. 
  • Strong electromechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. 
  • Good experience with electromechanical systems and product design activities.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD and FEA tools.
  • Good skills in effective problem-solving and able to communicate across some levels of the organization related to concepts of engineering, supply-chain, production, and manufacturing. 
  • Good understanding of various manufacturing technologies and methods. 
  • Good interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience. 
  • Great communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation), able to partner with and communicate with customers, both technical and non-technical. 
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the quality function. 
  • Effective organizational planning skills, coordinating internal and external resources, and the ability to balance critical priorities. 
  • Sound business sense and analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed actions, solve problems, and drive learning  
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, including the flexibility to work extended hours when necessary.  
  • Great computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Power BI, or other similar systems. Including great data analysis skills. 

Nice To Haves

  • Strong background with electromechanical systems involving motors, contactors, limits switches, gear boxes and mechanisms.
  • Ability to troubleshoot across various systems (electrical, mechanical, software) to identify the root cause of an issues.
  • Mechanically inclined (ability to take apart and put together a mechanical device).

Responsibilities

  • Product Support: Provide support and guidance to Assembly, Manfuacturing and Quality for all aspects of product design. Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturing standards. Manage root cause analysis, troubleshoot production problems, and assist in RMA analysis. Communicated directly with customers to understand and address reliability issues.
  • Simulation & Technical Analysis: Apply mechanical knowledge to design and analyze components and systems. Conduct stress and strain evaluations, tolerance analysis, and create and execute validation test plans. Use engineering tools and simulations to solve complex design challenges. 
  • Design & Documentation: Work collaboratively with designers and engineers to create electromechanical designs from concept to production using CAD tools. Ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering drawings and documentation. Proficient knowledge of GD&T principles and their application to engineering drawings.
  • Supplier Communication: Communicate directly with suppliers to develop qualification plans for nonconforming parts. Assist with prototyping development, participate in design reviews and address manufacturability concerns. Collaborate with internal and external teams to resolve component issues, ensure production readiness and address part obsolescence issues.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with project managers, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders. Use tools to manage documents, track progress, and support team communication. 
  • Research & Technology: Drive mechanical testing and validation efforts, ensuring robust methodologies and accurate execution. Analyze complex data, compile comprehensive reports, and present actionable insights to influence design decisions and drive innovation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for electromechanical subsystems. Lead and identify potential failure modes, assess risks, and recommend design or process improvements to mitigate oversight.
  • Technical Mentorship: Mentor and collaborate with designers and engineers. Provide technical guidance in areas of expertise, and drive brainstorming sessions.  Act as the go-to resource for identifying and resolving design and component-related issues. 
  • Compliance: Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules
