Raytheon has an opportunity for an energetic and motivated Mechanical Engineer within the Advanced RF Mechanical Design section, allowing for broad exposure to Raytheon’s technology, tools, and resources. The Airborne Sensor RF Design department within the Hardware Engineering organization is seeking support with radio-frequency mechanical packaging development and production support for multiple airborne and space vehicles. In this role, the engineer will be required to frequently collaborate with engineers of various disciplines to ensure support of program and factory requirements. The ideal candidate should have strong academic credentials and experience in working in a teamwork environment, having not only academic, but also interpersonal skills to help optimize our teams. Additionally, the candidate should possess an inquisitive nature and a strong desire to learn real-world applications to complement their academic experience.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree and a minimum of 2 years’ prior relevant experience, to include any combination of the following:
  • Experience with the design and manufacturing of electronics packaging and/or test equipment for military and / or aerospace applications
  • Experience with GD&T, ANSI drawing standards and first order analysis techniques
  • Experience with PTC Creo MCAD software and drawing standards
  • Experience with continuous (multi-year) program support
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • An existing Secret or Top Secret security clearance
  • Three or more years of industry experience in the design and test of electronics packaging for military and aerospace applications
  • Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design and layout collaboration experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical design and documentation of antennas, RF Sensors, and supporting Electronics and Sub-systems.
  • Support existing production program(s) in maintaining high quality and on time delivery to our war fighters. This could involve engaging with suppliers for quality issues and obsolescence, design and development of test equipment, root cause investigation, etc.
  • Follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program and functional leadership to ensure that overall design objectives are met.
  • Responsible for developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems.
  • Responsible for supervising the definitions of mechanical outline and construction details, connector selection and specification, mechanical and assembly drawings, and overseeing electrical layout and the technical data package.
  • Work with minimal direction or supervision, while exercising considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of assignments
  • Frequent interaction with the IPTL, PM, and a multi-functional team.
  • Travel periodically to suppliers and other sites to support programs
