OVERVIEW The Mechanical Engineer II will be responsible for providing engineering support in a high-production refinery as well as supporting large capital projects.

Requirements

  • At Least 4 years’ work experience in Mechanical Engineering and Project Management
  • A strong foundation of experience working with rotating machinery, heat exchangers, control valves, and pipelines.
  • Leadership experience with leading a team of technicians to achieve complex goals.
  • Proven experience in project management, including budget and schedule tracking.
  • Familiar with working with regulatory agencies to provide reports and documentation of required regulatory tasks.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required

Responsibilities

  • Prepare budgetary estimates and Decision Summary evaluations to assess the costs of potential projects.
  • Prepare Scope of Work documents for work execution and material procurement for large projects.
  • Review designs for large capital projects to ensure the long term reliability needs of the plant will be satisfied.
  • Manage the execution of capital projects, including leading project kickoff meetings, safety briefings, establishing conditions to commence work, and return to service activities.
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians to commission new equipment.
  • Drive a Change Management process to closeout projects, including creating Bill of Materials in a Computer Based Maintenance system, creating Preventative Maintenance tasks, and training technicians on the operation and maintenance of new equipment.
  • Incorporating standards and specifications into drawings. Including customer, local, state and national codes and safety regulations.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance when refinery equipment is not operating properly.
  • Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement countermeasures.
  • Checking drawings for thoroughness and accuracy, including self-checking one’s own drawings.
  • Collaborate with the Reliability engineer to analyze the results of Predictive Maintenance tasks and assist with optimizing the preventative maintenance program.
  • This position requires an employee to stand, walk and sit; navigate stairways and ladders; carry moderate loads and/or work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent exposure to manufacturing environments with moderate noise levels and to outdoor elements is also required.
  • Potential to be exposed to heights.
  • Travel (sometimes with extended stays) to other sites will be required as project requirements.
  • Understands safety and environmental expectations and can comply with utilizing PPE, etc. in conducting work
  • Willingness to travel to jobsites for field measurements, and assisting the installation, start-up and debugging equipment based upon the project scope of work.
  • Work Weekends and Nights as needed.
