Raytheon Mechanical Engineering (ME) is the premier organization for mechanical hardware design, development, production, and research. ME strives to minimize total systems cost, while maximizing production. This is achieved through commitment, training and continuous improvement using common tools and processes. The capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, operations, technical services, materials and processes, analysis and test and documentation. The Mechanical Engineer II report directly to the Sensors Interconnects Section within the Tactical Radars and Effectors (TRE) Department. The TRE Department leads mechanical and hardware design, development, production of radar, sonar, torpedo, communication, and combat system equipment across locations in California, Arizona, Texas, and Massachusetts. The Sensors Interconnects Section provides complex Interconnect solutions for above and below sea combatant platforms, mobile and stationary ground platforms, missiles, manned/unmanned programs across all platforms and onsite support. Engineers will perform research, design, and support to the build and development of military and commercial interconnections for all these platforms. This will include control, fiber optic, high power, high voltage, radio frequency, and waterproof. The position is for the Marlborough, Massachusetts location. This position is an onsite role.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field (Electrical, Mechanical).
  • Two (2)+ years of experience in Interconnects design.
  • Experience with the CAD design tool Creo and large assembly management.
  • Proficiency in PDM - creating action documents and coordinating document releases.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of component military specifications, standards, specifications for connectors, coaxial cables, multi-conductor cables, interconnection cable & wire and fiber-optic cables.
  • Working knowledge of Military and Commercial codes and standards for cabling and interconnects design.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Proven ability to lead technical solutions to complex user requirements.
  • Willingness for minimal travel (domestic and international).

Responsibilities

  • Use mechanical and electrical flow down to design, select components, and route cables using CREO to verify cable path, volume capture, lengths, and interfaces.
  • Use mechanical and electrical information to develop interconnections sketches, diagrams, and other engineering information to generate conceptual designs and drawings in tools such as CREO, AutoCAD, and Windchill.
  • Process Technical Data Package release and Change Notices (CN).
