Our Mechanical Engineering team leads in the design, development, and production of radar, sonar, torpedo, and combat system equipment. The Air Defense Ground Equipment (ADGE) Department is looking for a full-time on-site Mechanical Engineer II to join the MCAD (Mechanical Computer-Aided Design) team in Tewksbury, MA. This role involves mechanical design, development, and documentation of components and systems for defense equipment, requiring collaboration with various engineering and non-technical disciplines.

  • Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment.
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges.
  • Support product integration domestically and internationally.
  • Support development, evaluation, and analysis of mechanical designs.
  • Generate drawings, release drawings, and incorporate drawing changes.
  • Resolve change requests from manufacturing or suppliers.
  • Hold design reviews and resolve action items.
  • Develop rework and/or modification procedures.
  • Support the production floor by collecting issues, providing status, and participating in problem resolution.
  • Utilize CREO CAD tool for modeling and documentation creation.
  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 4 years engineering design experience with a focus on hardware development.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools or CREO.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and results-oriented.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to work across disciplines.
  • Experience in technical risk management.
  • Experience in Sheet Metal and CREO Cabling.
  • Experience in PDM.
  • Experience in multiple CAD Design Tools - Solidworks/CATIA/AutoCAD.
  • Experience in working on EACs/BOEs/Proposals.
  • Solid understanding of configuration management practices.
  • Ability to resolve technical issues resulting from manufacturing/supplier inquiries.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in Earned Value Management (EVM) and developing cost proposal estimates.
  • Understanding of the product development lifecycle models and program lifecycle modes.
