About The Position

Ellwood National Forge is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Irvine, PA, with occasional assignments at the Corry/Warren plants. The Engineer will be responsible for managing capital equipment projects, troubleshooting equipment and processes, and developing new manufacturing methods. This role requires interfacing with production to achieve best practices, implementing process improvements, and assisting maintenance to enhance equipment reliability. The Engineer will also set clear expectations for team members, solve organizational problems, and conduct research on company products and competing equipment.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree in Manufacturing Technology or Engineering or related field
  • Experience in metal cutting operations
  • Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Syteline)
  • Ability to work independently (self-directed) on projects
  • Ability to lead and direct team efforts
  • Strong math skills and problem solving ability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with installation and commission of newly purchased equipment and relocation of refurbished/existing equipment
  • Detail oriented with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with medium and large machine tool builder and/or refurbishing operations
  • Maintenance background
  • BSME / BSMET
  • EIT Certification
  • CAM experience (Mastercam)

Responsibilities

  • Managing of Capital equipment projects (new and re-builds), configuration, justification, location, installation and start-up
  • Troubleshooting of equipment and in-house processes as required
  • Developing and assisting with implementation of new and improved manufacturing methods
  • Interface with and support production to achieve 'Best in Class' practices
  • Devise and implement process improvements and cost reduction
  • Assist maintenance to improve equipment reliability and productivity
  • Setting clear expectations for team members and evaluate needs of team
  • Solve organizational and production problems
  • Research, develop, collect and report information on the ability and capacity of company products and competing equipment
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
