The Shipboard Effectors Department is currently searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer I to work on a multi-discipline team to support the production of Shipboard Effectors products and subsystems located in Louisville , KY . This is a n onsite role with regular support in a production facility. This Mechanical Engineering position performs in alignment to expectations in the design, development and production support areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principals, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across a design life c ycle.  Development work may include requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development, application of geometric dimensioning and toleranc ing principals, engineering test principals, preparation of technical analysis reports, and presenting in design reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar Engineering discipline
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)
  • Experience with interpreting assembly and/or component drawings
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5
  • Proficient in Creo (modeling and drawing) and Windchill (PDM)
  • Mechanical aptitude to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written .
  • Ability to work in teams or independently, flexible, demonstrates initiative.
  • Active DoD issued security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Technical execution of tasks
  • Recommending solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems related to the design, manufacture, integration, and production sustainment of various mechanical sub-systems both in the engineering lab and the factory floor both at Raytheon Technologies and at suppliers.
  • Contributing to first article inspections, work instruction reviews, material dispositions, and root cause investigations to production issues.
  • Preparing technical justification analysis reports and presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.
  • Commitment to program schedule and budget, and 3D parametric modeling.
