Vantage is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to be part of the Global Innovation team. The ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering background and some experience with the design of cooling systems for mission critical facilities. In this role, you will work alongside the Electrical and Architectural disciplines to deliver new products and improve existing products and associated standards. You will assist in developing high-level schematic system designs and specifications and collaborate with regional teams on design reviews and feedback and enable site-adapt implementations. Regular collaboration and coordination will be required with architects, other engineering disciplines, procurement, and facility operations team. You will work with the regional design and execution teams to ensure that new standards are established, and existing standards are implemented and coordinate any enhancements required to be incorporated into the standard design and specifications.

  • Assist in the efforts on design of mechanical systems - CRAH/CRAC units, chiller plants and liquid cooled systems.
  • Support the development and maintenance of mechanical block diagrams and single lines diagrams for mechanical system designs
  • Support program level design efforts in coordination with other disciplines to ensure a cohesive well-coordinated product design is delivered to regional teams for site-adaptation.
  • Interface with regional SMEs to coordinate design development efforts and receive feedback on designs. Collaborate with manufacturers and vendors to develop innovative mechanical solutions.
  • Develop/manage Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) studies and other modeling studies are required to validate design concepts.
  • Develop Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) calculation templates.
  • Provide in-house REVIT expertise and lead the modeling efforts to produce designs in REVIT
  • Attend "First-of-Kind" FWT testing of equipment as required.
  • Additional duties as assigned by Management.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited university or college
  • 2-5 years of experience in mechanical systems design and construction required
  • Proficient in Bluebeam, BIM tools (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks), Excel, and Word
  • Experience with CFD modeling software environments
  • Well versed with all building codes and ordinances, including ASHRAE
  • National and international travel required and is expected to be 10 to 15%, but may increase over time as the business evolves
  • Plumbing and fire protection infrastructure background within a data center preferred
