Procon is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, specifically in the Washington, DC area. This position requires expertise in mechanical systems design, analysis, and implementation in compliance with local and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in federal projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC design, plumbing systems, and fire protection systems.
  • Proficient in the use of engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ANSYS).
  • Experience with energy modeling and building performance analysis is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Capable of interpreting codes and standards relevant to mechanical engineering and construction.
  • PE (Professional Engineer) license required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, reports, and specifications for mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to develop comprehensive project plans.
  • Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and provide recommendations for system upgrades or replacements.
  • Review and approve mechanical submittals and shop drawings from contractors.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure that all mechanical work aligns with project schedules and quality standards.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for mechanical systems during construction and after project completion.
  • Assist in the development of project budgets and cost estimates related to mechanical systems.
