SCOPE: As a designer at Ferrara you will be responsible for design of mechanical components and systems, working with Sales and Engineers to meet customer and sales product requirements. Core designs consist of bodies, cabs, chassis components, and integration of new product into existing designs. Extreme attention to detail, producing defect-free design packages within the specified schedule. Support production during vehicle build phase. Support Field Service organization when vehicle is in service. The Designer at Ferrara is relied upon by other employees and customers for technical guidance and support.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in an Engineering Field or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in CAD systems – Autodesk Inventor and/or Auto CAD
  • Minimum of 2 years general design work experience

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of NFPA standards related to Fire Apparatus is not required but will be beneficial
  • Awareness and familiarization of regulatory standards – NFPA, DOT, ULC etc.
  • Knowledge and use of lean principles as they apply to manufacturing and business processes.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and changing mechanical and/or electrical components and systems used on Fire Apparatus.
  • Creation of drawings to be used to manufacture components.
  • Creation and management of indented Bills of Materials (BOM) in adherence to company standards.
  • Manufacturing support to ensure quality and schedule commitments are met.
  • Fulfillment of customer requirements (i.e. quotes, shop orders) taking into consideration design rules and all applicable interface points.
  • Participation in customer meetings to understand design requirements and answer questions regarding product design parameters and/or limitations.
  • Engineering change management through established processes and documentation.
  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required, or directed, to maintain workflow or respond to production or customer requirements.
