About The Position
The Mechanical Engineer supports the design, development, and production of electrothermal propulsion hardware for aerospace applications. This role spans concept development through production support, with a strong emphasis on precision mechanical design, hardware integration, and close collaboration with manufacturing and test teams. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge space propulsion technology and hands-on involvement in advanced mechanical design and spaceflight hardware.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or related field)
- Strong mechanical design skills and understanding of precision assemblies
- Ability to read and create engineering drawings and GD&T
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
Nice To Haves
- Experience with aerospace propulsion, vacuum systems, or high-reliability hardware
- Experience with thermal or structural analysis tools
- Hands-on experience supporting assembly and test of flight or flight-like hardware
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO, or similar quality systems
- Experience working in prototype or low-rate production environments
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for electrothermal propulsion systems
- Create and maintain engineering drawings, models, and specifications
- Support hands-on assembly, integration, and troubleshooting of propulsion hardware
- Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are manufacturable, repeatable, and cost-effective
- Support thermal, structural, and mechanical analyses as required
- Support test planning, execution, and post-test evaluation
- Investigate and resolve mechanical issues, nonconformances, and design changes
- Participate in design reviews and configuration control activities
- Ensure designs comply with aerospace standards and internal quality requirements
