About The Position

Corvid Technologies' Prototyping, Integrating, & Testing (PIT Crew) team is looking to add a talented Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer to support development and prototyping of components for ground launch systems. Candidate will join a diverse team that interfaces with government and OEM's to understand (and manage) various stakeholder interests as well as competing design requirements. The position requires a broad interest in engineering and product development and offers an opportunity to do hands-on engineering tasks that result in actual hardware fabrication, integration, and testing. Candidate will work on design and analysis tasks to meet a variety of requirements and objectives. Design tasks typically involve tight tolerances, complex interfaces, and multifaceted structural requirements based on the system's use. Candidate will also integrate the proposed designs to understand effects on the broader systems - this analysis will be done using a variety of commercial and proprietary tools as well as by developing, executing, and analyzing load scenarios. The position will also help design and execute a variety of testing scenarios, and the hardware needed to verify the prototype meets all customer requirements. Sample Tasking will Include: Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies in CAD software Structural analysis using commercial (ANSYS, NASTRAN, LS-DYNA, etc.) and proprietary in-house (Velodyne) FEA tools Prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing of designed components

Requirements

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and obtain (and maintain) a U.S. Security Clearance
  • Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or similar discipline), Master's Degree is a plus
  • Interest and ability in mechanical design, preferably using SolidWorks or similar tool for CAD
  • Structural analysis using ANSYS/NASTRAN/LS-DYNA or similar tool
  • The preferred candidate will have experience designing components for manufacturing, while working closely with a manufacturing team

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree is a plus
  • Experience and/or interest in programming is a plus
  • Experience or interest in thermal analysis is a plus
  • Experience or understanding of defense related design and product requirements is a plus
  • Experience in design for manufacturing (DFM) or hands-on experience in a shop/fabrication environment are appreciated
