The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing new products and helping Banner's growth in the Connectivity business unit (cordsets, cables, receptacles, connectors, etc.). This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working both collaboratively and individually, staying on top of tasks, and making a meaningful impact across teams and projects. Below are some key responsibilities of the role.

  • Develop new products for Banner's Connectivity business unit including conceptualizing, designing and documenting components and assemblies while following departmental processes for procurement and production.
  • Translate product specifications and requirements into effective product designs.
  • Evaluate designs through physical and virtual product testing including performing stress, thermal, and tolerance analyses.
  • Design and acquire prototype parts for internal evaluation as needed.
  • Resolve part and process issues by working with production engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers.
  • Plan and implement project and task timelines, and report progress of the projects.
  • Manage product documentation including Bills of Materials (BOMs), design verification reports and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • 0-3 years of related engineering experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Creo (surfacing, large assembly, and motion)
  • Basic knowledge of FEA, CFD, COE, and Monte Carlo statistical analysis
  • Experience with engineering tools (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, DAQ cards, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of fabrication processes, such as plastic injection molding, machining, metal forming, die-casting, and laser cutting
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and coordinate with multiple departments simultaneously
  • Experience in product design for industrial applications
  • Experience designing injection mold tooling and/or knowledge of mold tool design concepts
  • Experience planning and leading projects
  • Experience with design of experiments (DOE) and finite element analysis (FEA)
  • Working knowledge of metrology, associated tools, and statistical techniques
