About The Position

The Collins Aerospace Mission Systems Integrated Strategic Solutions (ISSE) engineering team is seeking summer interns for the 2026 year. Our Mechanical Engineer Co-Ops participate in the design, development, and test of electronic equipment and integration kits for communication systems on military aircraft and transportable platforms. You will learn to work closely with fellow Mechanical Engineers as well as Systems, Electrical, and Manufacturing Engineering staff to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a product's lifecycle. Collins Aerospace is redefining the future of aerospace in Richardson, TX to enable our warfighter to be as effective as they can be in the realm of nuclear deterrence. Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run June-December 2026 (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity. This is an ONSITE position located in Richardson, TX.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering (3rd year or greater preferred).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Solidworks or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Familiarity with ANSYS or other mechanical analysis software.

Responsibilities

  • With technical supervision, apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems.
  • Work with engineers and designers to produce models for components, parts, subassemblies, and assemblies.
  • With technical oversight, execute tests for systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives.
  • Communicate effectively in a cross-functional team.
