The Engineering team has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer with a focused computational fluid dynamics (CFD) skillset. As a CFD specialized Mechanical Engineer, you will focus on simulating and analyzing airflow, ventilation, and thermal performance in building environments. You will also support sustainable design strategies and help optimize occupant comfort and energy efficiency. As part of our integrated design teams, you create buildings that elevate the human experience through design. You would be responsible for participating in the design process and preparing detailed reports based on your analysis to inform and elevate design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in a MEP or integrated design firm working on commercial/public projects, including the design of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection building systems on complex projects.
  • 2+ years of experience with CFD analysis related to HVAC design.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Familiarity with CFD tools (ANSYS Fluent, Autodesk CFD, SimScale, or similar).
  • LEED Accredited Professional and previous experience participating in the LEED or other green rating system process.
  • Experience and interest in sustainable building design.
  • Experience with BIM (e.g. Autodesk Revit MEP) work flow.
  • Knowledge of building systems, HVAC principles, and ASHRAE standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing project objectives, goals, and documentation policies.
  • Analyze HVAC system performance and airflow patterns within built environments.
  • Run CFD simulations for building ventilation, thermal comfort, and air quality.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports and narratives.
  • Collaborate with architects and MEP engineers to integrate simulation feedback.
  • Document setup parameters, simulation results, and recommendations.
