About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing innovative solutions for the Amazon Dash Cart and other projects, focusing on enhancing physical retail technology. This role involves collaboration with a cross-disciplinary team to design, validate, and manage components throughout the product development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or similar field) and 4+ years of experience in the consumer or industrial electronics industry as a mechanical design engineer.
• Experience with design tools including Solidworks and/or ProE/Creo.
• Exposure/Familiarity with FEA, DFMEA, and statistical analysis tools.
• Exposure/Familiarity with thermal analysis, product validation, and materials process validation.
• Prior experience with delivering products into mass production.
• Experience in engaging & working with vendors and suppliers to deliver in fast-paced technical environment.

Nice To Haves

• MS in mechanical engineering.
• Analytical and methodological root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills including DOE and 8D.
• System design interfacing to a wide array of electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical sub-systems.
• Experience designing with plastic injection molding and tooling, aluminum castings & sheet metal parts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead and take design ownership of one or more major components or a subsystem through the entire product development life cycle.
• Create detailed design specification and validation plans/documentation.
• Build and evaluate prototypes to quickly iterate & improve designs through rapid learning cycles.
• Validate that subsystems and components meet product requirements, and solve problems when they arise.
• Manage the technical relationship with 3Ps in concert with supply chain to deliver new components to the required specification and required schedule.
• Develop one or more areas of subject matter expertise to aid in developing and bringing products to launch.
