This role will assist the Mechanical Engineering Manager lead the Design Verification (Engineering Checker) team. Strong skills in Mechanical Design, Requirements (Internal and Industry) and Design Verification (DV) is necessary to succeed in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical or project management background with 5 years equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain and leverage effective Customer relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, propose and manage budgets and schedules
  • Success working in an environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedules
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products
  • Exhibit strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel (~5%)
  • Familiarity with electrical and/or mechanical drafting standards and requirements
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, mechanisms, materials and analysis
  • Proficiency with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • EPDM Windchill experience
  • Creo experience
  • Prior checking experience

Nice To Haves

  • Current Lockheed Martin MCAD Certified Checker
  • Mechanical design and/or manufacturing experience that includes the use of interpretation of engineering design drawings
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling, drafting and release familiarity (Creo, I-Deas, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of industrial standards and federal regulations including ANSI, OSHA, and AWS (including AWS weld symbology)
  • Data Set Rating experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to development and deployment of productivity / performance improvements and leveraging new technologies
  • SharePoint experience
  • Familiarity with electrical/harness engineering documents
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Demonstrated Full Spectrum Leadership qualities
  • Experience working with teams on cross-level projects/multidisciplinary product development teams
  • Competent at handling multiple customers, tasks, and projects simultaneously
  • Exhibit strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage and lead 4+ members of the central design verification team
  • Oversee the development, implementation and improvement of processes and standards
  • Project schedule and budget monitoring and execution
  • Managing priorities
  • Perform document and model verification with specialized emphasis Model Based Definition and 1LMX
  • Examine engineering documents/models for soundness, efficiency, and simplicity of design; completeness, clarity, and dimensional accuracy; correctness of materials and processes; conformity to design/drafting standards, design specifications, and producibility and economy of fabrication, assembly, and installation.
  • Conduct quality control checks on all engineering drawings, ensuring accurate, error-free, cost-effective products from designers
