The NSSS System Engineering organization is focused on the NuScale Power Module System Design including Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) system design, inspection and testing in accordance with nuclear industry codes, standards and regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Manager, NSSS System Design, the person in this role works in close collaboration with multiple disciplines in development of fluid systems and components within the NuScale Power Plant NSSS to support advancement of the design. All work within the NSSS Engineering organization is completed under the ASME NQA-1 quality assurance program and U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines.

  • Generate technical requirements for NSSS systems, structures and components.
  • Perform and check engineering evaluations in accordance with NuScale company procedures, by applying sound engineering judgement.
  • Support the preparation and review of engineering specifications, drawings, reports and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of systems, structures and components associated with the nuclear steam supply system.
  • Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should be interested in acquiring general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields in order to function on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Support development and implementation of effective processes for system design specifications.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical) or Mechanical Engineering Technology, from a four year ABET accredited college or university is required. A registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is desired.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of nuclear/non-nuclear experience in mechanical engineering or related industry experience is required.
  • Thorough working knowledge and experience in various areas of engineering is required.
  • Development of technical programs related to design, examination and testing is required.
  • Strong technical writing skills as well as good communication, computer, presentation and interpersonal skills and ability to clearly communicate.
  • Good organization skills and ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases is required.
  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
  • A registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is desired.

  • The target pay range for this position is $87,107 - $105,129 annually. The full pay range is $78,096 - $122,149 annually.
