Consisting of piping layout, piping details, hanger assemblies and details, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)Performs technical work and sub professional engineering. Work includes specific assignments performed under minimum direction of a professional superior. Work requires application of mathematics, writing and technical knowledge gained through training and experience. Work requires judgment be exercised in the execution of assignments.

Requirements

  • At job entry, placement will be determined by a review of college transcripts and related work experience.
  • A minimum of 6 years of related experience is required for the senior level.
  • Once placed into the job family, an employee may become eligible for promotion by demonstrating the ability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by their management and meeting experience requirements.
  • College level coursework (100+) related to the position from an accredited institution is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient with the latest version of Bentley Systems MicroStation CAD Software Version.
  • Good oral and written communication skills to assist in coordination activities with project team members and possibly construction personnel.
  • Experience in the use of office programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Self-starter and be able to work independently on a variety of tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Designs or assists with design of retrofitting generating facilities upgrades in the mechanical and piping systems, knowledge of civil/structural drawing is a plus.
  • Will be involved with project estimating consisting of: field research, own information, notes and familiar with drawing reading
  • Provides design package consisting of physical drawings, from own notes or engineering concepts including bill of materials.
  • Assists in the documentation of division design standards and procedures.
  • May be required to contact outside agencies such as manufactures and vendors relating to project specifics.
  • Requires out of town travel to SRP generating sites.
  • Assist in procurement and design of major substation apparatus in the areas of construction, modifications, replacements and maintenance.
  • Performs surveys, investigations, studies, estimates, drawings, sketches, bid invitations, work order requests and material requests.
  • Contacts outside agencies, such as utilities, government agencies, manufactures, vendors and others.
  • Prepares milestones and detailed schedules for equipment procurement to support engineering and construction.
  • Act as the document coordinator and keeper of records for all substation apparatus.
