About The Position

Topper Industries is seeking a Mechanical Detailer to convert engineering and design concepts into accurate 3D models and fabrication drawings that support shop production and manufacturing. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role focused on producing clear, complete, and build-ready drawing packages. This role is ideal for someone with strong SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor experience who understands fabrication processes and enjoys working closely with engineering and shop teams to ensure designs can be efficiently manufactured.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent hands-on experience in mechanical detailing, drafting, fabrication, manufacturing, or related technical field
  • 4+ years of experience producing fabrication or manufacturing drawings
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor
  • Experience creating fabrication drawings including weldments, assemblies, and part-level documentation
  • Solid understanding of fabrication processes, materials, tolerances, and shop practices
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and convert them into production-ready documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and drawing accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across engineering and shop teams
  • Strong communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with G-Suite tools including Docs, Sheets, Gmail, and Drive preferred

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings using SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor
  • Translate engineering and conceptual designs into shop-ready fabrication drawings
  • Develop complete drawing packages including assemblies, subassemblies, weldments, and part drawings
  • Apply company detailing standards, templates, and best practices
  • Interpret engineering redlines and update drawings accordingly
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, purchasing, and fabrication teams to clarify design intent and resolve constructability challenges
  • Revise drawings based on shop feedback, fabrication constraints, and customer requirements
  • Support project schedules by completing detailing tasks on time and communicating risks or conflicts early
  • Participate in drawing reviews and incorporate feedback from internal stakeholders
  • Provide technical drawing support during fabrication and production when needed
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation within company systems
  • Maintain a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement
