Under direct supervision from the Engineering Manager, uses CAD software and design principles to support product development and improvement activities. Identifies problems, develops solutions and drives implementation to complete the design objectives. Responsible for delivering design solutions that meet customer requirements and engineering objectives. Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Use computer aided design/drafting (Pro-E/CREO, AutoCad) software to develop mechanical models, assemblies, and drawings using standard industry principles for product design. Create and revise production unit part and assembly electro-mechanical drawings. Generate mechanical drawings for use in sheet metal, welding, and machining operations. Perform design analysis including tolerance analysis, tolerance stack up, finite element analysis and other engineering related tasks as required in support of design related activities. Produce final drawing packages by checking dimensions of parts/assemblies, materials to be used, relation of parts to each other and entire assemblies. Utilize knowledge of various machines and processes, engineering practices, mathematics, raw materials, and other physical sciences to complete models, drawings, and assemblies. Draft drawings with multiple views, including section, detail, and exploded views compliant with industry standard practices for engineering drawings. Develop welded assembly drawings using AWS standard weld symbols. Process engineering change notices and enter Bill of Material information into the company ERP system. Take field measurements and make sketches to assist in answering design, fabrication, tool design, or installation questions. Convert multi-CAD system subassemblies (Pro-E/CREO, AutoCAD) into integrated mechanical assemblies. May be required to provide direction to team mates depending on skill level, expertise, and project requirements. Check detail drawings to assure compliance with industry engineering codes and drafting standards. Support design for manufacturability and continuous process improvement activities as they relate to product or processes within the company. Ensure drawing compliance with environment, safety, health, and quality program requirements.
