About The Position

In the role of Mechanical Designer/EIT, we'll count on you to coordinate mechanical aspects of commercial or institutional projects, perform routine mechanical engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures, write and edit mechanical specifications, and select mechanical systems and devices. You will utilize engineering software to develop HVAC loads, energy analysis and size/select mechanical equipment, prepare construction documents for HVAC and plumbing design of buildings, including drawings, specifications and reports, and assist in the development, production, and issuance of BIM documentation, using the necessary Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. You will work independently on small projects, and/or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects, supervise the work of Mechanical CAD Technicians, and coordinate design of assigned projects with architectural staff and other engineering disciplines. Additionally, you will take responsibility for construction contract administration requiring shop drawing review, request for information (RFI) review, field inspections, and conflict resolution, and perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software)
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Healthcare, Science and Technology and/or Civic facilities experience
  • Revit experience is required
  • Previous HVAC experience
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
  • Strong Communication skills, self-motivated, organized, attention to accuracy, detail oriented, flexible, and able to work both independently and with a project team to complete tasks
  • Teachable. Willingness to be mentored by senior-level mechanical engineers
  • Local candidates preferred
