About The Position

The Mechanical Designer (CREO) will support the space program and various other programs located in Houston, TX. They will support the design and development of hardware for NASA and commercial space missions along with some oil and gas projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with mechanical, structural, and systems engineers to create high-quality designs that meet demanding aerospace standards.

Requirements

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of design or engineering.
  • Must have 8+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • In lieu of degree: Candidates with a minimum 12 years of recent and related experience will be considered.
  • Must be proficient with CREO.
  • Experience designing for spaceflight or aerospace environments.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to produce clear, accurate drawings compliant with GD&T and aerospace documentation requirements.
  • Worksite analysis experience.

Nice To Haves

  • The ideal person would have some experience in oil and gas or other energy-related fields.
  • Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems (Windchill, Teamcenter, etc.).
  • Experience with analysis tools or workflows (FEA, tolerance analysis, mass properties).

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using PTC CREO.
  • Support the mechanical design of spacecraft components, instruments, brackets, enclosures, and ground-support equipment.
  • Perform tolerance stack-ups and ensure manufacturability in accordance with aerospace fabrication methods.
  • Maintain configuration control, documentation, and drawing quality per NASA, GSFC, JPL, or industry aerospace standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, integrate feedback, and collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Work with manufacturing and suppliers to resolve design and build issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
