About The Position

The Mechanical Designer - CAD position at BISSELL involves working within the Computer Aided Design department as part of the Product Development and Engineering Organization. The role focuses on providing design expertise for parts and components related to various BISSELL appliances and products, whether in development or production. The individual will report to the CAD Manager and will be responsible for developing designs, supporting new product development, and ensuring compliance with CAD standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Design, or a closely related field.
• 0-2 years of experience in a relevant field.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using ProE design software.
• Experience in Consumer Product Goods (CPG) development.

Responsibilities

• Develop basic designs for product enhancements, customer requests, and engineering changes using cost-effective methods.
• Assist with new product development by creating designs and drawings under the direction of technical leaders.
• Support CAD drafting for Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), product changes, and R&D projects as necessary.
• Continuously improve CAD skills and provide technical support and training to other CAD team members.
• Understand and complete drawings according to the CAD Standards Manual.
• Initiate recommendations for continuous improvement in CAD usage and product development processes.
• Assist with ECO work, ensuring that incoming CAD work is approved and complete.
• Check EC work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
• Lead CAD on assigned projects, typically involving small projects.
• Create product geometry using CAD software.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) properly on drawings.
• Maintain or assist with CAD Checklists as assigned.
• Support the CAD department with data transfers and assist other users.
