We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Design Supervisor to lead our design team in developing automated and manual fixtures for Body-In-White applications, with a focus on Resistance Welding. This role is critical in ensuring the successful execution of mechanical designs using 3D solid modeling tools, while fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design with expertise in Body-In-White weld fixtures (Resistance or MIG).
  • 5+ years of experience in leading technical professionals.
  • Proficient in NX, Inventor, Unigraphics, Catia and Teamcenter.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage open issues related to design projects.
  • Monitor project status and report progress through departmental documentation.
  • Organize and lead customer design reviews and buyoffs.
  • Interpret project scope and manage internal and customer-driven changes.
  • Develop new processes and tooling content to enhance design efficiency.
  • Release mechanical designs to processing and collaborate with manufacturing and process departments.
  • Supervise and support a team of technical professionals, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and project timelines.
  • Allocate tasks and responsibilities based on employee skill sets, project needs, and deadlines.
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable work environment through regular check-ins, performance feedback, and mentorship.
  • Lead and mentor the mechanical design team through effective communication, coaching, and development.
  • Oversee the submission, accuracy, and approval of employee timecards in accordance with company policy.
  • Support performance evaluations and participate in hiring processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate team activities and ensure alignment with customer and program specifications.
  • Assist the Mechanical Design Manager in planning and scheduling design activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
