About The Position

The Mechanical Design Supervisor - PTS leads and manages the mechanical design team, ensuring high-quality design outputs, efficient resource utilization, and alignment with project goals. This role serves as the primary point of contact between design and other departments throughout the project lifecycle, overseeing day-to-day operations while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Requirements

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Experience managing schedules, budgets, and team resources.
  • Ability to mentor and develop design talent.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor; familiarity with Autodesk Vault and MS Office is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of 3A standards and manufacturing or industrial equipment design is a plus.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement and design review processes.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (≤5%) to GEA equipment installation sites or fabrication shops.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 10 years' experience as a mechanical designer, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and prioritize mechanical design tasks for presale, project, and component design activities.
  • Oversee all mechanical design aspects of components, including structural integrity, materials selection, and manufacturability.
  • Coordinate drawing release schedules with Sales, Pre-Contract Engineering, Project Management, Lead Designers, Supply Chain, the Shop, and Customers.
  • Monitor staffing levels, recommend overtime as needed, and report resource updates to the Director of Mechanical Design.
  • Track project progress, ensuring adherence to budgets, schedules, and departmental standards.
  • Enforce compliance with company procedures, design guidelines, and quality standards.
  • Participate in project meetings, including turnover, phase gate reviews, design reviews, and lessons learned sessions.
  • Train, mentor, and onboard new mechanical designers, identifying skill gaps and recommending development initiatives.
  • Manage internal employee relations, resolve conflicts, and promote a positive team culture.
  • Approve department timesheets and manage vacation requests.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and use of the department's Archive System.
  • Support team problem-solving and respond to staff inquiries.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
