Lockheed Martin Space in Denver, Colorado is seeking a Summer 2026 Mechanical Engineer intern to support the FBM Program. In this role you will: • Ensure the sustainment of the existing and future FBM Trident II D5 deployed fleet through Structures Engineering efforts. • Shape the future of the program through digital transformation, proposal development and model-based engineering initiatives. • Collaborate with adjacent organizations and our government representatives. • Provide technical and program management experience in support of the program • Support all facets of our program; cost, schedule, and technical execution of program scope including R D, Production, Sustainment, Qualification and Special Investigation contracts through engineering project management. • Interface with Suppliers and subject matter experts within and outside of FBM program engineering.

Requirements

  • Pursuing Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with design and/or integration of mechanical hardware.
  • Experience and familiarity with CREO.
  • Experience in mechanical design.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment.
  • Experience in engineering project management.
  • Experience with cost management, estimation generation, development of cost justifications, Basis of Estimate (BOE) generation, proposal preparation and negotiation; ability to plan multi-year strategies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with mechanical solution development, design and technology trades.
  • Knowledge of hardware manufacturing processes (machining, welding, heat treatment, surface treatment, assembly, etc.).
  • Experience across the engineering development lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
