GFT is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Building and Places Team in Boston, MA. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Boston office.   • Survey and studies of building mechanical equipment and systems
  • Design of HVAC systems, building automation systems, plumbing systems and fire suppression systems
  • Technical direction of mechanical designers and technicians on specific projects
  • Progress and other report writing
  • Project specification writing
  • Project management
  • Proactive problem identification and resolution
  • Coordination and verification of project deliverables
  • Participate in business development meetings with prospective clients, proposal preparation and delivery, as well as general client interaction
  • A BS or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required
  • P.E. is required
  • Must have 5+ years' experience and the ability to independently design HVAC systems for both renovated and new facilities
  • Must have 5+ years' experience using energy modeling and heat load software to perform effective energy use analyses and heat load calculations
  • Must have strong understanding and working knowledge of psychrometrics
  • Must have a thorough understanding of mechanical building codes, energy codes, and construction standards
  • Must have a strong understanding of DDC controls, controls design, and operation
  • Must command excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Project Management experience is preferred
  • Proficiency in HVAC design software
  • AutoCAD and REVIT Experience with Architectural/MEP Packages and BIM360 is preferred
  • Plumbing and/or Fire Protection experience is preferred
  • Commissioning experience and certification is preferred
  • ASHRAE involvement is preferred
