Barfield is more than just a prestigious name in the industry: it is subsidiary of Air France Industries KLM Engineering We are looking to hire a dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team who will support our Engineering department. Barfield Inc . is seeking a hardworking, highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who will utilize CAD software to create, test, validate and improve product designs for a range of Ground Support Test Equipment (GSTE). The Mechanical Design Engineer will be part of the R.E.D (Research-Engineering-Development) Team and will be responsible for the overall mechanical design and development of Ground Support Test Equipment (GSTE), including the development of new concepts and the refinement of existing designs. The Mechanical Design Engineer will also be responsible for the development of engineering specifications and drawings, as well as working with other R.E.D engineers and technicians to ensure the successful implementation of the design.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrated 3+ years of work experience in design, drafting, and product development.
  • Extensive practical experience utilizing 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D CAD (SolidWorks) a must.
  • Experienced in designing parts for manufacturing processes such as machining, plastic injection molding, and sheet metal processes.
  • Must have applied knowledge expected, including knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing precise technical drawings and documentation.
  • Understanding of Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics.
  • Understanding of Dimensioning and Tolerance.
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical and judgment capabilities to anticipate issues.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of project management tools.
  • Mandatory to provide a SolidWorks design sample along with the resume

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical design and development of Ground Support Test Equipment (GSTE)
  • Follow through the Prototyping, Engineering, and Product Validation phases to compete product development process
  • Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, BOM’s, specifications, procedures, etc.
  • Develop and conduct technical experiments to select most suitable design approach, materials, mechanical components, processes, and technologies.
  • Build and test prototypes and standard products.
  • Prepare Engineering test and investigation reports.
  • Interface with vendors to select and specify mechanical components.
  • Coordinate with the R.E.D Engineers to compete all packaging and peripheral accessory designs for the product developed.
  • Perform product design modifications and engineering change processes as necessary to support existing products.
  • Support documentation in accordance with ISO9000 and AS9100C standards to ensure projects meet Company, industry, and client standards and expectations.
  • Adhere to project deadlines and keep the Supervising Engineer or Project Manager informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
