Siemens Smart Infrastructure is seeking interns for its Electrification and Automation division in Wendell, NC. The internship offers a variety of opportunities to support project design tasks, operations, product development, special projects, and process improvements. Interns will engage in engineering work, design changes, and documentation, contributing to the development of protection and automation products and solutions.

  • Support engineering work by reviewing and organizing the Siebreak 3D library for operations and production.
  • Assist in design changes and modeling of designs using 3D NX CAD and 2D AutoCAD Electrical to expedite material quotations.
  • Participate in team improvement projects focused on process documentation and work instructions.
  • Create documentation for legacy products and projects.
  • Design new parts for prototypes with guidance from senior members and update existing parts to enhance designs.
  • Support prototype builds with assistance from senior members and JT files.
  • Create and organize electrical and mechanical device libraries.
  • Provide production and lab support on product assembly.
  • Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student studying Mechanical Engineering.
  • Basic understanding of 3D modeling (sheet metal, solid) and model drawings.
  • 3D modeling/drafting experience (Solidworks, AutoCAD, NX).
  • Mechanical design knowledge and basic electrical concept knowledge.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet project deadlines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with MS Office products, with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Hourly pay rate of $25.00-$30.00/hr, depending on experience and location.
  • Eligibility to contribute to the 401K program.
