About The Position

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the IRST Sensors Program area in Orlando, FL. What You Will Be Doing: As the Mechanical Engineering Designer Sr, you will be responsible for supporting the Integrated Product Team in creating detailed designs, layouts, and drawings for various components and subassemblies. You will play a key role in developing and generating CREO layouts, detailed drawings, and design documentation, ensuring seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams. Your responsibilities will include: Developing and generating CREO layouts and detailed drawings for ICDs, components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and integration test articles Building BOMs, creating parts, assemblies, and design documentation within Windchill PLM Coordinating with the IPT team, suppliers, GSC, electronic packaging, optics, and structural/thermal/material analysts to ensure design excellence Managing drawing releases, responding to CRs, generating CN's, and presenting/supporting change boards and design reviews Performing design trade studies to evaluate cost, weight, performance, and structural/thermal benefits

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of 5 years related experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical design engineering principles and demonstrated knowledge of industry practices
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and ability to perform complex detailed part and subsystem tolerance analysis
  • Minimum 3 years experience with Creo or similar 3D computer-aided design software
  • Have the ability to generate engineering drawings, documents, parts lists and specifications
  • Have the ability to work with minimal oversight or supervision
  • This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands‑on experience with machining, rapid prototyping, or lab equipment (CNC, 3‑D printers, test rigs)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Model-Based Definition (MBD).
  • Opto-Mechanical experience.
  • Experience with composite structures.
  • Experience with phases of aerospace systems lifecycle from proposal and capture efforts, development, transition to production, production, and sustainment.
