About the position

The Mechanical Design Engineer Intern will work closely with experienced engineers in the Mechanical Design team at MACOM, gaining hands-on experience in designing, building, testing, and evaluating fixtures for RF microwave component manufacturing and testing. This internship is designed to provide valuable work experience, professional relationship building, and ownership of a business-critical project over a 12-week period.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside experienced engineers to gain mentoring and guidance.
• Design, build, test, and evaluate fixtures for RF microwave component manufacturing and testing.
• Complete an individual and well-defined project with set outcome goals.
• Participate in hands-on experience and receive excellent training and ongoing supervision.
• Attend networking and social events related to the internship.
• Present at a Poster Session about the project successes and challenges.
• Receive formal, written feedback on performance.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum Junior grade level.
• SolidWorks experience preferred, other CAD software acceptable.
• Ability to work independently with limited direction given.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Eagerness to learn.

Nice-to-haves

• Collaboration with outside vendors and machine shops.
• Experience working with 3D printers.
• Strong electrical engineering background (RF/Microwave specifically).
• PCB fabrication background.
• Hands-on mechanical experience.
