The intern position will be assigned to a product design team to learn fundamental design elements, Create 3-D models and assemblies, 2-D drawings, Structural FEA, Kinematics, prototype creation and other activities related to the engineering development process from concept to design approval.

Requirements

  • Minimum Class Standing - Sophmore
  • Course work – Engineering CAD, Structural FEA, Design Principles, Project Team Participation
  • Can be 2 year or 4 year Mechanical Engineering program

Responsibilities

  • Create or modify 3-D model data based on engineering input (Tools – NX,)
  • Create or modify 2-D drawings based on engineering input (Tools – NX)
  • Perform simulation analysis (Structural FEA, CFD, Plastics Flow) on assemblies or components (Ansys, Moldflow)
  • Collect data from physical prototype and compare to simulation results (Test equipment, Excel)
  • Participate as a design team member in design reviews
  • Time management and project plan creation for assigned project
