Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong proficiency with hand calculations and fundamental mechanical engineering principles
  • Demonstrated experience writing engineering substantiation reports or similar technical documentation
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor for model interrogation and figure creation
  • Experience using Mathcad (or similar engineering calculation tools) to compile structured engineering reports
  • Ability to interpret and apply engineering standards, codes, and design criteria
  • Excellent technical writing skills with strong attention to detail and clarity
  • Comfortable working onsite in a hands-on engineering environment
  • Self-directed, analytical, and able to work with minimal oversight
  • Capable of working independently and as a team member
  • Strong work ethic and unwavering integrity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a learning mindset
  • Curiosity, problem solving, and analytical thinking

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical analysis and develop substantiation reports that clearly document engineering rationale, calculations, assumptions, and compliance with applicable standards
  • Conduct detailed hand calculations to validate designs, evaluate load cases, and support engineering decisions
  • Use Autodesk Inventor to extract model data, verify geometry, and create figures and visuals for reports
  • Write clear scenario descriptions, define boundary conditions, and reference relevant codes, standards, and design criteria
  • Compile calculations, figures, and narrative into formal engineering documentation using Mathcad
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and operations teams to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with project requirements
  • Work onsite daily to understand real-world conditions, gather data, and support hands-on engineering activities
  • Drive work independently as a self-starter who can manage priorities, ask the right questions, and deliver high-quality technical documentation
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners
  • Contribute to projects that impact communities in West Fargo, Horace, Harwood, Moorhead, and Dilworth, and the greater Fargo, ND metro
