About The Position

Drake Cement and its sister location-the Tehachapi Cement Plant in California-form the cement unit of UNACEM North America. Together, they create a single, integrated business with an expansive market in the Southwest United States.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical/engineering area is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical experience in the cement process and mining industry.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SAP, MS project, Task Trainor for plant equipment, Manlift 135.

Responsibilities

  • Research equipment, doing time cards, purchase requisitions, and checking purchase orders.
  • Ensure completion of shutdown operations within schedule (yearly overhaul).
  • Assisted in the planning of jobs by skill sets, man-hours, tools, and services.
  • Help with problems in the plant.
  • Provide proper direction building SOPs to the team for jobs at hand and monitor the team for safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and practices.
  • Control the quality of maintenance jobs from subcontractors, ensuring timely completion and clean-up within time and budget criteria.
  • Embrace preventive and predictive maintenance practices and contribute to their improvement.
  • Create and prioritize work orders to benefit the production process, locating contractors, parts, and equipment.
  • Check on the wellbeing of the team, help with problem solving, ensure safe operations, coordinate schedules and men to complete tasks.
  • Ensure completion of mechanical maintenance jobs with the highest level of quality, safety, and effectiveness at minimum cost to maximize equipment availability.
  • Manage and ensure coordination and cooperation between Mechanical and other departments.
  • Take necessary actions when mechanical incidents occur, instilling a sense of urgency in making repairs to return equipment to operation.
  • Update the information of the parts and equipment into SAP program.
  • Optimize maintenance operations using the best available tools and procedures to maximize equipment availability.
  • Support the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure proper day-to-day scheduling of work and necessary resources.
  • Identify the different parts of equipment to help the warehouse department.
  • Keep informed of general plant practices to ensure 'on-call' duty.
  • Responsible for the execution and the quality of maintenance work to be carried out on mechanical equipment, respecting budget, policies, and deadlines.
  • Distribute and track preventive maintenance work orders.
  • Ensure ongoing skills enhancement of his team, partnering with the Maintenance Supervisor to assist in the development and implementation of training plans.
  • Define his department's budgeting needs and negotiate them with his manager.
  • Approve scheduling of work.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.
