About The Position

Mechanical Coordinator Key Responsibilities Safety & Compliance Promote and maintain a safe, inclusive, and quality-focused work environment across all mechanical and material handling activities. Conduct regular field safety observations and provide real-time feedback and corrective coaching. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and environmental standards. Participate in job safety briefings (JSBs), pre-task meetings, and contractor orientations. Construction Coordination & Quality Oversight Perform field inspections of mechanical installations—including piping, coating/insulation, structural steel, and rotating equipment—for compliance with drawings, specifications, and standards. Verify that Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) are developed, approved, and implemented by contractors. Complete a minimum of four (4) Construction Quality Surveillances (CQS) per month and provide written reports. Identify quality issues, support development of corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution. Track inspection and testing documentation to support quality and turnover deliverables. Maintain a Construction Daily Log detailing activities, safety observations, manpower, equipment, and progress. Update Contractor Weekly Progress Tracking Sheets by commodity. Material Coordination Coordinate the transfer, receipt, and issuance of materials, equipment, and parts between vendors, warehouses, and the job site. Monitor material requirements to ensure timely delivery and accurate documentation. Partner with vendors and procurement to resolve discrepancies, shortages, or technical clarifications. Verify incoming materials against packing lists and specifications. Maintain a Master Material & Equipment Tracking Log updated weekly with status, shipping details, storage location, and installation readiness. Coordinate with warehouse and supervision to ensure proper staging, preservation, and availability of materials. Planning & Interface Management Assist in planning and scheduling construction activities to align with project milestones, budgets, and resources. Interface daily with project engineers, construction managers, planners, quality inspectors, and other coordinators to align work sequencing and material readiness. Participate in pre-bid, pre-mobilization, progress, and coordination meetings; provide updates on progress, materials, and quality. Support contract administration, including field verification of contractor performance and adherence to scope. Contribute to Lessons Learned, Best Practices, and Risk Mitigation efforts. Qualifications Strong working knowledge of mechanical construction practices, including piping installation/testing and structural steel erection. Materials and equipment are properly managed, tracked, and available when needed for installation. Reporting deliverables are accurate, timely, and provide actionable insights to project leadership. Coordination among field teams, procurement, and engineering is proactive, timely, and transparent.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical construction practices, including piping installation/testing and structural steel erection.
