About The Position

Kent is seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Specialist to join our team at the Golden Pass LNG Project in Port Arthur, Texas. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and execute mechanical commissioning, start up, and initial operations activities for LNG and oil & gas facilities. The role ensures mechanical systems are safely commissioned, optimized, and handed over to Operations in compliance with design intent, safety standards, and project specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline with 10 to 15 plus years of extensive mechanical commissioning experience, primarily within the Oil & Gas sector. Minimum of 10 years’ proven experience in relevant and transferable mechanical commissioning roles.
  • Hands on experience with major industry leaders including ExxonMobil, LNG projects, and Baker Hughes compressor systems.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, GA drawings, and vendor documents.
  • Demonstrated strong technical expertise in mechanical systems with extensive experience in the dynamic commissioning of rotating equipment, including compressors, turbines, and auxiliary systems.
  • Strong knowledge of commissioning procedures and systemization.
  • Familiarity with mechanical completion systems (e.g., HEXAGON, Co Console, ICAPS, WinPCS, etc)
  • Extensive experience with Oil & Gas company standards and practices, including Systems Completion, Equipment Preservation, Commissioning, and Start Up operations.
  • Strong track record in supervising large multidisciplinary teams through: Mechanical Completion, Commissioning, Start Up and Initial Plant Operations.
  • Advanced understanding of work planning, scheduling, progress tracking, and execution control.
  • Results driven professional with strong organizational skills and a delivery focused work ethic.
  • Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as required to function effectively within a project team and to communicate with project management, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Effective time management, planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in multiple groups in a team oriented environment and independently when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Commissioning Area Manager for planning and execution support, and indirectly to the Commissioning Discipline Lead for technical guidance.
  • Direct and supervise the mechanical commissioning team across assigned plant areas, ensuring alignment with other discipline activities.
  • Serve as System Owner for all systems and subsystems within the Area, ensuring seamless handover to Operations.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise technicians, vendors, and subcontractors to achieve Static & Dynamic Commissioning targets.
  • Support Area Commissioning Leads on mechanical issues and maintain team performance, productivity, and schedule adherence.
  • Plan and prepare detailed work, including job packs, materials, tools, and equipment; support resource allocation, forecasting, and l 5 planning.
  • Track progress against schedules and performance metrics; maintain the Systems Completion Database for reporting, certification, and quality control.
  • Ensure compliance with project design, standards, specifications, Systems Completion Plan, and control procedures.
  • Oversee documentation: test records, as built, commissioning and handover packages, and assist in Start Up and Operating Procedure development.
  • Identify and manage mechanical resources, tools, test equipment, and spares to ensure proper skill mix for execution.
  • Coordinate vendor scheduling, direction, and control with the Mechanical Commissioning Lead.
  • Attend Area Commissioning meetings and report progress.
  • Support Turnover/Handover from construction to Operations, ensuring systems are fully commissioned and TCP compliant.
  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance, including permits, isolations, zero energy states, and adherence to ISCT and Area Prime safe working practices.
  • Interface with Safety Advisors and Contractor Safety Officers to maintain a safe and environmentally sound work environment.
  • In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization.
