Barr is seeking a mechanical CADD technician to join our Hibbing or Duluth team. In this hybrid role, you will support the mechanical group on mechanical engineering projects involving data collection, planning, problem-solving, design, and construction assistance. The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams to provide computer-aided drafting using AutoCAD, CADWorx, and other drafting software on a Windows platform. Assignments will include working closely with engineers to create, update, and revise drawings of mechanical and miscellaneous systems and may entail visiting project sites to gather information for drawings. The ideal candidate for this position is intrinsically motivated and emphasizes client service. They enjoy working independently and as part of a team, using their project communication expertise and technical ability for a variety of projects. They are flexible in working with their project teams and are willing to occasionally modify schedules to meet project deadlines and/or client needs. This person is also relationship-focused, as the role involves serving both internal and external clients. Hybrid: a hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr’s Hibbing or Duluth, Minnesota, offices. Travel expectation: occasional field visits to client sites; travel percentage will vary by project. Work environment: ability to work in locations including industrial processing facilities, power plants, renewable facilities, and other heavy industrial facilities.
